Karo has been learning about instructional writing for the past week. They needed to write instructions for how to make a hot chocolate. Students were paired up and asked to follow the recipe their partner had written. For some students this proved to be difficult, as at times they found their partners instructions hard to follow. This required them to create an image in their heads of what 1/4 cup, heaped teaspoon and sprinkle of chocolate looked like. Students decided that next time they needed to be more specific in the language they used.
Overall, Karo enjoyed learning about how to write and follow instructions. A lovely activity to enjoy on a cold and rainy day. The students favourite part was eating the marshmallows and drinking the hot chocolate.
Hot chocolate sounds like a great idea for a writing lesson in this chilly weather! Great job, Karo class 🙂
