New Poi.

Every alternate Thursday at 8am, you will find Whaea Tina Peters leading our Senior Kapa Haka. Tina is a past pupil of St. John’s and her son, Victor, is a year six student. Her family has a long involvement with St. John’s School and the East Coast Bays Parish community. To date, Tina has created our school waiata, arranged for the composition of our own school haka and now is in the process of making a set of new performance poi for us.

As well as serving St. John’s as the kapa haka leader, she is also on the Board of Trustees. Tina is a teacher at Carmel College and a Community of Learners in school leader. Her role includes teaching te reo, leading kapa haka and facilitatimg the Carmel College Whanau Group. This group provides a voice for tangatawhenua in the Carmel Community.
