Principal’s Message
Nau Mai, Haere Mai,
My name is Marina Binns and I am very proud to be the new Principal serving St John’s School. Situated in Mairangi Bay on Auckland’s North Shore we are a Catholic primary school with a roll of 337 students between the ages of 5 and 11.
St John’s is a very special place for me. As a school and as a place of work it impresses and inspires me because of the importance placed on relationships. All levels of relationship are treasured and nurtured; the children, their families, the staff, the wider school community, the Parish and the wider North Shore Catholic School Kahui Ako. It is my desire to continue to strengthen and build on these relationships to ensure that, going forward, St John’s remains a place of warmth, welcome and inclusivity.
I aspire for St John’s to be an environment in which students are nurtured and given opportunities to build and deepen their relationship with God. It is my desire for our school to be a community in which Christ is encountered and where the faith and practices of the Catholic Church are passed on and experienced.
Our school values of faith, community, respect and excellence are extremely important to us and are the essence of our school curriculum. St John’s students stand proud and strong in their faith. They respect themselves, others and creation. Our students are encouraged to be active participants in their School/Parish community. Through the legacy of faith and service of our Patron Saint, St John the Baptist and the founder of the Sisters of St Joseph, Mary MacKillop you should see our Josephite Charism enacted in our actions, that we, knowing we are part of something bigger than ourselves, may “never see a need without doing something about it”.
